Yes, These Mermaid Tails Are Made for Swimming.

A swimmable mermaid tail is more than a costume. Fabric tail systems use a monofin underneath the tail skin, allowing the swimmer to move both legs together in a dolphin-style kick. Our silicone tails are also created with swimming and underwater movement in mind.

Mermaid swimming is still swimming. Swimmers should be comfortable and confident in the water before adding a tail or monofin, learn how their equipment works, and swim in an appropriate environment with supervision when needed. Looking beautiful underwater is only part of the equation — being comfortable with your equipment matters too.

We Didn’t Learn Mermaid Tails From the Side of the Pool.

Mertailor grew out of actually wanting to become a mermaid. That meant making tails, getting into the water, figuring out what worked, figuring out what absolutely did not, sculpting again, swimming again, performing, experimenting, and continuing to refine the idea.

More than twenty years later, that process still matters. Our tail systems may look very different from one another, but they come from the same place: tail making, swimming, sculpting, experimenting, and probably a little obsession.

Mertailor products are created by our small team in Florida, where mermaid tail making is not simply something we sell. It is something we have spent a very long time actually doing.
